The Somali Voice

(SV) believes strongly that our socio, political and economic problems in the country are a result of greed and corruption. The nation has suffered civil war, injustice, and so much set backs in our development. The rate of unemployment and crime are high, our social infrastructure is collapsing. There is so much greed, corruption, and injustice in the country which has led to the emergence of militia and armed groups in some parts of the country. To address these and many other social problems, there is need to build stronger institutions that will make those in authorities accountable. We cannot build these institutions (National Assembly, Judiciary, Police and other law enforcement agencies, Public Service etc) without a vibrant State and National Assemblies consisting of men and women of integrity who will make good laws for the benefit of the common man

To achieve this, the SV has put in place a political platform for those Somalis who are ready to serve the nation but cannot find space within the existing political structure to contest election into the State or Nation Assembly. The SV is strongly committed to reforming our institutions through quality representation and legislation. We are very mindful of our responsibility to protect our integrity in the discharge of these obligations; as a result, we have put in place some stringent policies and guidelines for interested individuals who genuinely want to serve the good people of our country with the view that this will translate to the following:

1.   Collaborations with and outreach to Somali Institutions for research expecting to protect, amend and make good laws that will provide equal opportunities for ALL Somalis regardless of their ethnicity, clans or social life.

2.    To strengthen our vision for building stronger Institutions through human capacity. The endemic and unprecedented level of corruption in the country is as a result of deliberate actions or inaction of the successive government in Somalia to weaken these institutions to enable them consistently loot our treasury with impunity.

3.    The various legislations for the reformation of our institutions will hold both government and the citizens accountable for their actions. Our institutions will be independent and incorruptible in their investigation, prosecution, and dispensation of justice to anyone regardless of his/her position as president of the Federal Republic of Somalia or an ordinary citizen.

4.    With stronger institutions in place, those in the position of authority will judiciously expand and account for resources at their disposal. Our academic institutions will be well funded, Industries will be protected, employment opportunities, infrastructural development and regular maintenance of our public buildings currently in decaying position, protection of human rights and privacy. More importantly, the enforcement of the law on piracy and intellectual rights will transform our economy in view of our population.
